Steven is a highly experienced media and commercial litigation lawyer often acting in complex and multi-party litigation and appeals.
Steven has over 20 years of defamation experience and has acted for plaintiffs and defendants in a number of high profile cases. Steven provides prepublication advice to media publishers including national media organisations and copyright an intellectual property advice.
Steven primarily acts for clients in matters before the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Court of Appeal and Federal Court of Australia. He has High Court of Australia experience, having acted in a number of applications for special leave, appeals to the High Court and applications under the Court's original jurisdiction.
Steven also practices in the areas of competition and consumer law, commercial disputes, class actions, insolvency, land and environment law and employment law.
Steven is recognised for his litigation skills. He was named in the 2013 edition of Benchmark Asia-Pacific as an Australian dispute star for plaintiff and class actions.
Steven is an advocate for social justice and has run landmark cases under Australia's Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth).
Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Studies from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology, Sydney.
He is a councillor on Waverley Council having been elected in 2017 to represent the Hunter ward.
